About us
We support practical action for sustainable development through partnerships, civil society development, proposing new solutions, as well as promoting tried and tested environmental projects and initiatives.
The PEPF continues the work of the ‘Environmental Partnership for Central Europe’ (EPCE) – a programme of The German Marshall Fund of the US – which supported civil society development during the period 1992-1996.
Since 1997, the PEPF has been supporting initiatives and projects, which contribute to making sustainable development a daily reality for local communities across Poland.
How we operate
The PEPF develops and implements multi-year thematic programmes in partnership with civil society organizations, businesses and public agencies. Programmes provide financial suport, specialist advice, training, networking and opportunities for innovation for community-based initiatives to fast track sustainable development.
Thanks to the active support of partners and funders, PEPF programmes are continuously upgraded to meet local needs and circumstances. Programme funding is raised from national and local government, international assistance programmes, philanthropic foundations, business and individuals.
PEPF programmes:
1. enable citizen-led initiatives and social innovation;
2. promote partnerships between civil society groups, businesses, local government, public sector agencies and universities;
3. treat environmental resources as the basis for livelihoods and development of a more competitive market economy;
4. support practical action at the community or local level aimed at integrating social, environmental and economic considerations in the everyday lives of Polish people.
